Michael Vallarelli

Assistant Coach & Recruiting Coordinator

Coach Vallarelli serves as an assistant coach to head coach, Mike Teti. Vallarelli works primarily with the freshman squad on the water and is in charge of Cal Crew's recruiting effort each year. The 2009-2010 season will be his 2nd year as a coach at Cal, having served as an assistant coach to the varsity squad last year.

In 2001, Vallarelli was in the dominant Cal varsity 8 that went undefeated, capturing the PAC-10 and IRA national championship titles.

In 2002, Vallarelli was again in the Cal varsity 8 that won both the PAC-10 and IRA titles, completing a record-breaking 4-straight IRA national championships in the modern era of rowing. Previous to joining the rowing program at Cal, Vallarelli worked in institutional sales for JPMorgan Securities in San Francisco & Boston.

Coach Vallarelli holds a B.A. from University of California, Berkeley in Political Science.
